“For just $75, the Kzzi i75 V2 offers a fun, low-profile mechanical typing experience with bright RGB and a versatile feature set that challenges even more expensive keyboards.
This video provides an in-depth review of the Kzzi i75 V2, a 75% low-profile mechanical keyboard designed for those seeking great value. We explore the key upgrades from the V1, including new switches, the addition of shine-through keycaps for vibrant RGB, and a more accessible price point.
The analysis covers the keyboard's build and design, from its lightweight ABS plastic with an aluminum accent to its surprisingly functional and precise control knob. The typing experience is a major focus, with a close look at the feel of the doubleshot ABS keycaps and the sound profile of the light linear switches.
We also detail its standout features, such as the exceptionally bright backlighting enhanced by a clear top plate, and its flexible connectivity via Bluetooth, 2.4G wireless, and a wired USB-C connection. The review also touches on Mac and Windows compatibility, the impressive battery life (with RGB off), and the limitations of its software.”
The youtuber think it is not going to be the same top-of-the-line experience we got from nuphy. While the nuphy air v3 owns the twice price of i75v2. if we are looking for a keyboard that is simple to use, sounds good, and which checks nearly all the boxes, let’s move on the details of $75USD kzzi i75v2.
In the first part of the video, Cameron also made a deep look at the link i75v1 to get the changes between v1 and v2. The biggest thing is the grey color added to i75v2. The change from using kailh switch of i75v1 to using Kzzi’s own switch in i75v2 can easily be found. Another change is the shine-through keycaps of i75v2 low profile 75 keyboard. And low profile ergonomic keyboard i75v2 is $10USD cheaper which is rarity on a V2 product in these days now.
Build and design
I75v2 low profile mech keyboard is a 75% keyboard with a knob and some added spacing around the edge of the keyboard. These space helps a lot in locating the accurate keys, reducing the mis-touching, especially the space around the arrow keys. Maybe someone will think it is not compact enough and wastes the space. On the edge, there is a circle aluminum frame, which also adds a lot of space, around the function keys in particular. It is helpful if you are transitioning from a keyboard with little space around the function key. But if you use the function row a lot and are used to laptop, the rich space around the function key might takes you some time to get used to this keyboard design.
Because of the design of keyboard battery on the back, i75v2 low-profile keyboard is not super thin or ultra small. The aluminum frame makes it a long keyboard from top to bottom compared to other compact keyboards. Even the factors above, it is still fairy light, weighting only 712 grams. Other Kzzi 75 percent keyboards is more than 1KG. Most keyboard weight saving comes from material, this low profile 75 keyboard is primarily made of ABS plastics with a strip of aluminum frame. The aluminum design adds a unique look and a bit of a premium feel to the desk setup.
On the back, besides the battery storage, there is also a slot for 2.4G dongle. Plus there are 2 stages of adjustable anti-slip feet pad. So that the typing angle can be adjusted to 4, 6, and 8 degrees.
Construction
Although it is not made of the best material, but the construction does feel quite good, especially for the price. The model the youtuber got is white version, which is quite clean and simple. And there is a pink version, a added grey version which replaces the black color that was available on the V1.
Typing experience
We will move to the keycaps, which have a great size and shape. The typing area is flat with a slight concave shape to help guide the fingers. The keycaps are made of double-shot ABS plastic. The low profile rgb keyboard i75v2 is deigned with shine through keycap, allowing us to appreciate the RGB backlighting. The keys also have icon to show relevant functions. For example, bluetooth multi-device pairing, operating system. These icons is convenient for keyboard beginers or anyone who does not want to refer to user manual all the time. Just look down the keyboard, can we figure out which key to press.
Switches
Beneath the keycaps, there is only one switch available temporarily. White snow switch is a super light force style. The low profile keyboard i75v2 is also hot-swappable. But it does not support the low profile switches from other brands. Because the pin layout does not match with kailh, gateron or other switches. The package list includes 4 extra switches for replacement in case some switch fails.
Structure
Despite it is not a gasket mounted, i75v2 low profile keyboard gives a good amount of bounce when pressing. The silicon pad on the back offers cushion, bringing a decent sound and feel. The typing sound test in the video from 5:37. The typing feel is pretty good, the key press is light. Surprisingly, the board does not feel super hollow. The sound is pretty satisfying click. But there is still some slight pings and rattle from the stablizers. It is acceptable as a budget low profile keyboards.
Function and features
I75v2 low profile keyboard wireless is equipped with North-face per key rgb under the shine-through keycaps. “Now, I test my keyboards with a desk that has a light bar on it, and I usually have to test the RGB away from that light bar because it will outshine most backlighting, but not here. This keyboard was bright enough to show through in even that extreme circumstance. Additionally, when there are shine through key caps on a board that I'm testing, I would typically refer to light bleed that comes from around the key caps as a bit of a problem. But here, when it happens, it's actually kind of a feature in my opinion. “
When the backlighting is on, it actually acts as a bit of a diffuser, which is why these multicolored lighting effects look particularly mesmerizing on this keyboard, which adds to it being a pretty fun experience overall. The knob on the top right is decent. It controls volume by default with a click to mute. You can also press and hold on the switch to change it to an RGB backlight control. It has some tactile feedback when you turn it, but it's not a crisp motion. It's a bit mushy, but what it does have going for it is precision. I can get to every level of a Mac volume bar with it, which is more than I can say for some knobs on way more expensive keyboards.
Connection
For connectivity, there is a switch on the back to jump between wired, 2.4G and bluetooth. For bluetooth, we can connect with 3 different devices and jump between them pressing FN+Q/W/E. The 2.4G receiver is stored on the back with a magnetic slot. The polling rate of wired mode is 1000Hz, 500Hz under 2.4G mode, 125Hz under BT mode. Maybe we need to use wired mode if we want to use i75v2 for most games.
System
The keyboard works with MAC and Windows. We can toggle between them with FN key plus A for windows or S for mac. The keycaps at the bottom of the keyboard have marking for both MAC and Windows. While the windows legend will shine with rgb, the mac label is slightly smaller on the bottom. The function row has slightly different option for MAC and Windows. Additionally, the function as a whole, defaults to media controls on MAC requiring use the funtion button, to use regular button F1,F2,etc. On windows, it is exact opposite to that, requiring the Fn button to use media controls. But it can be switched by reflashing the firmware no matter we prefer Function key as default or Media controls as default.
Battery
The keyboard battery is 3750mAh, and it can last 400 hours with backlight off, 25 hours with backlight at the brightest state. Also if we want to check the battery life, we can use FN+ENTER to light the number row. For example, if 9 light lits, then the battery is around 90 percent.
Value and Price
The keyboard is 75USD, which is 10USD less than the original V1. The typing experience doesn’t seem to be completely ruined as a result. If you are looking for a nice low profile 75 percent keyboard with a knob, and you wanna spend as little as possible. This is a solid option.
Exclusive Features
Here are some exclusive features which make the keyboard stand out. Like clean design, excellent backlighting, shine-through keycaps, knobs works well, reasonable price, good battery life, solid typing. At the mean time, there are also some dealbreakers. We may get the rattle typing for stab, like spacebar. The size might be big as for a low-profile keyboard. Do not have other options in choosing the switch. The Kzzi software only supports Windows.
All in all
For $75USD, this has a lot going for it. And it will be perfect for a student or a young professional or just anyone who wants a keyboard that is easy to use and fun to type on.
Thanks all the reviews that Cameron Dougherty Tech offers. Looking forward to the next keyboard reviews.
