Why keyboard issues are common with daily use?
As one of the most high-contact devices exposed to our hand typing, the dust, oil, sauces of food and skin debris from fingernail. Over daily using, all the debris will build up between keys and fall inside the mechanical keyboard. In the last article, we introduced how and when should we clean our mechanical keyboard. Apart from debris will affect switch movement and keys responsiveness. The Frequent typing will also bring natural wear on switches and keycaps, especially on mechanical keyboards used for work or gaming. Spills, improper cleaning, cable stress, and software or driver conflicts can contribute to performance problems.
Without regular maintenance, these small issues can gradually lead to unresponsive keys, inconsistent typing feel, or unusual keyboard noise. In this article, we will introduce some keyboard issues a kzzi keyboard might occur and how to fix it. If we can not fix it after trying the following methods, please feel free to email Kzzi@kzzi.com.

一、Keys Not Responding or Missing Keystrokes
If some key is missing, we can enter key test website to check how many keys are missing. Is there any regular line or raw with these keys. The possible causes might be debris, switch wear or bent pin, software issue, or the loosing of socket on the PCB.
After testing all the keys, if there is only one key missing：
1、We can replace the switch of the issue key with a new switch.
2、If it is still useless, we can restart the keyboard or reflash the keyboard with firmware.
3、If it still has no work, we can also disassemble the keyboard and clean the PCB, checking the socket on the PCB whether it is loosing or falling off the PCB. Solder the loosing socket back.
4、If we can not tell it directly, using a tweezer to hold the 2 sides of the socket. If there is no reaction on the key test website, then the tin sheet might be damaged. Normally it is hard for users to fix it themselves. We might need a new PCB or return it to the factory to fix.
If there is a column or a row of keys missing:
The reason might be the following:
1、is there any liquid spilled to the keyboard?
2、There might be something wrong with PCB circuit
3、IC short circuit
How to fix:
1、Restart the keyboard or reflash the keyboard with firmware.
2、If step 1 is useless, we might also need a new PCB or return it to the factory to fix.
二、keys sticky or hard to press
The common reasons are as following:spill liquid, debris build up, dusts inside the keyboard
How to fix:
1、Replace the switches
2、Clean the keyboard thoroughly
3、Try to reflash the keyboard with firmware
4、Replace with a new PCB circuit or return the keyboard to the factory for repair.
三、Keyboard Input Lag or Delayed Response
For the slow keyboard response, it might be because of hardware or software causes, USB connection, or the polling rate.
In order to deal with keyboard input lag, normally we just need to reflash the keyboard.
四、Double Typing or Repeating Keys
As for the keyboard double typing, the faulty switches might be one of the causes. That’s why we will add some extra switches in the kzzi keyboard package. Or just like the problem of keyboard input lag, we can fix keyboard double typing by software fixes and PCB circuit replacement.
五、Backlight or RGB Lighting Not Working
Normally we can try to reflash the firmware for the keyboard. If the keyboard rgb is still not working, or there is keyboard backlight issue. We can disassemble the keyboard and check the led bead. Sometimes it is because one of the led bead has burned out, which will cause one bead or a total row keyboard rgb bead issue.
As long as we can find out which rgb bead is broken and replace it with a new one. The problem can be fixed perfectly. But it requires soldering tools and soldering skill. Or we can also replace the PCB circuit board with a new one.
六、keyboard not Recognized by Computer
The following are the common reasons:
1、Cable issue
2、Devices or System can not be compatible
3、Poor contact of connection port
4、Keyboard issue
5、Some keyboard mode is useless, like wired only, 2.4G has no function or only Bluetooth mode can not be recognized by the computer.
How to fix:
1、trying another cable or another device
2、Check the keyboard Type-C port, whether it is loosing from the board. Or if it has no key nor rgb under 3 modes. If the PCB port is loosing, it is hard for us to solder it back. We just need a new PCB circuit for the replacement.
3、For a tri-mode computer, if there is only one of the mode is useless. We can check the mode switch button firstly, probably the button is loosing or the small PCB board which is control the keyboard connection mode is broken. Maybe the issue can be fixed by replacing them.
七、Keyboard is dead totally.
If we leave the keyboard for several months without charging, it might not be wake up. If we can not turn it on, please check whether the keyboard will act when plug in the cable. If no, try another cable or another USB port, or another device.
There is another situation. The keyboard can work normally but it stops working suddenly. It is probably because of integrated circuit broken. If so, we need another new printed circuit board assembly for replacement.
八、Keyboard Connection Issue
1、2.4G mode
Re-pairing it as the keyboard user manual mentions. As for the kzzi keyboard, most steps are the same. Here are the steps we can try first.
Restart the keyboard by long pressing FN+SPACEBAR for 3-5 seconds, the flashing rgb means restarting is successful.
Then switch the keyboard to the 2.4G mode, we can see the P key is flashing. If the key is flashing quickly, which means it is searching for the device. At the same time, we can plug in the 2.4G dongle.
Once it is successful, the flashing P key will stop.
If we can not connect the keyboard with the method above, maybe the switching button is broken or we can try to reflash the firmware for both keyboard and 2.4G dongle.
When all the methods above can not work, we need to return the keyboard to factory for repairing. Or replace with both new small PCBA and the main PCBA.
2、Bluetooth Mode
Each kzzi wireless keyboard supports 3 bluetooth devices at the same time. They will be stored in the keyboard, and we can switch between them by pressing FN+Q/W/E.
Switch the keyboard to bluetooth mode.
Then the Q key will flash as default. The quick flashing means it is searching for the device, and after connecting it in the computer. The Q key will stop flashing.
If we need to store more devices, press Fn+W/E to connect with device2/3 using the steps above.
So if we need to switch Bluetooth devices next time, we just need to press FN+Q/W/E.
